AIUB Computer Club (ACC) organized a seminar, “Career at Therap” in the Multipurpose Hall at American International University-Bangladesh on 24th November 2019. The seminar was taken by Therap, a US-based company with an office in Dhaka, with a purpose to encourage fresh graduates of AIUB to apply at Therap. The seminar was conducted by Richard Robbins, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Therap. Accompanying him, a highly trained team of Therap, Maj. Gen. (Retd) M. Shamim Chowdhury, Director of HR and Vital Analyst, Md. Nazrul Islam, Senior System Analyst, Kazi Rezwan Abedin Saad, Senior Software Engineer – QA, Khandakar Nasrat Zubair, Senior Database Engineer, Minar Mahmud, and Seemantra Ahmed Shubho, Software Engineer, and Tasfia Afnan Barshon, Training and Content Specialist also attend the seminar.
Numerous faculty members of AIUB were also present at the seminar. Dr. Dip Nandi, Associate Professor and Director, FST, Mr. Tareque Moudud, Assistant Professor and Director, FBA, Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik, Senior Assistant Professor (FST) and Special Assistant of OSA and many more faculty members. Dr. Dip Nandi, Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik, and Mr. Tareque Moudud came to stage and started the seminar by welcoming the Therap team, faculty members and the students for coming to the event.
They highly appreciated Therap for coming to AIUB as guests and addressing the students. They welcomed Maj. Gen. (Retd) M. Shamim Chowdhury to the stage and asked him to give a speech. Mr. Chowdhury introduced Therap to everyone and stated the relation between them and AIUB. Mr. Richard Robbins began his session by thanking everyone for coming and welcomed everyone from Therap to AIUB.
He also stated the friendly relation between both parties as 30+ alumni are currently employed at Therap. He gave a quick showcasing of their medicine-based application and their websites. He also shared what they look for in applicants and how should they prepare to start their careers. Later a short video that included the various facilities provided by Therap and the insights of the currently employed employees was shown.
Tasfia Afnan Barshon gave a thorough briefing about the facilities that women receive including separate gym and yoga sessions and restrooms with beds for pregnant women. The seminar concluded with a productive question and answer session between the students and the Therap team.
The faculty members asked the Therap team to come up to the stage and take a group picture addressing it as a family portrait.
The faculty members then presented tokens of appreciation to the guest speakers and their team. Therap, team hope that they can continue to recruit more students from the institution to enrich their career at Therap.
