On Tuesday, 27th October 2026, a seminar titled “AI Adoption in Software Engineering” was held with the goal of addressing the growing anxiety surrounding artificial intelligence in the software industry and preparing students for a workforce increasingly shaped by AI.

The seminar took place at the Multipurpose Hall, D Building, AIUB, organized by AIUB Computer Club (ACC) in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). The session was graced by the presence of Dr. Abhijit Bhowmik, Associate Professor,  Faculty Department of Computer Science, AIUB , along with guests from 6sense HQ Limited, featured keynote speaker A.K.M. Ahsanuzzaman, CTO & Chairman of 6sense HQ Limited and second speaker Md. Zihadi Haque, Associate Software Engineer of 6sense HQ Limited.

At the beginning of the session, Dr. Abhijit Bhowmik addressed the widespread worry among professionals and students that AI will eventually replace human developers with a thoughtful talk on AI and the job market. He reassured the audience that AI will not take jobs. He also placed a strong emphasis on flexibility and ongoing education.

A.K.M. Ahsanuzzaman, then took the stage. His presentation focused on the core motivations for building AI, shifting expectations in the job market with a strong emphasis on a passion for AI infrastructure and the art of providing effective feedback to AI systems. He walked attendees through a real life job example, advised students to become “orchestrators,” and discussed modern software workflows. He highlighted that while AI tools write code faster, a developer’s primary job remains proving that the code works, noting that AI is much more than just a code generator. He concluded by outlining a comprehensive software developer roadmap.

Afterwards, Md. Zihadi Haque explored the paradigm shift of software engineering “Before AI vs After AI,” detailing what AI can and cannot replace, and how AI is actively utilized in software engineering. His session covered recent AI updates, handling linter issues, managing QA issue flows coming from Jira and practical approaches such as adding the case, run and result. Furthermore, he discussed standard checklist items for reviewing AI Pull Requests (PRs) and encouraged students not to just learn how to code, but to learn how to engineer with AI.

Also an interactive Q&A session addressed various technical topics, including MT file and project related questions, Agentic AI, general problem solving and AI security related concerns. Attendees enthusiastically shared their ideas and queries, keeping the discussion lively and engaging throughout.

The event wrapped up  with a closing segment where Dr. Abhijit Bhowmik presented tokens of appreciation to the speakers and  6sense also presented a crest to Dr. Abhijit Bhowmik and  AIUB Computer Club. The successful event concluded with a group photograph featuring the speakers, organizers and participants.

On the whole, this seminar was a remarkable experience for everyone present, focusing on the timely and often debated issue of AI adoption in software engineering. Students gained a deeper appreciation for the role that adaptability, continuous learning and responsible collaboration with intelligent systems play in the future of software development. The speakers’ ability to break down complex concepts into relatable examples made the session both enjoyable and insightful. With a charged and enthusiastic atmosphere, the seminar undoubtedly succeeded in its mission to prepare students for the real world challenges of an AI-driven software industry.
