A seminar on “Safe Internet For Academic Excellence” was arranged by ISPAB and Computer Science Department, AIUB in association with the AIUB Computer Club (ACC) on 8th November, 2022. The seminar took place at the auditorium, D building. The main purpose of the seminar was to enable the use of safe internet. Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor, AIUB presided over the program. Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, Honorable Minister, Post Telecommunications Division, Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology was present as the chief guest. Md. Emdadul Hoque, President, ISPAB and Director and COO, Optimax Communication Limited; Mr. Sakif Ahmed, Director, ISPAB and Director and CEO, InfoLink Ltd.; Mr. Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan, Secretary General, ISPAB and Managing Director, KS Network Ltd.; and Mr. Iqbal Bahar Zahid Founder and President, Nijer Bolar Moto Ekta Golpo were present there as special guests and Prof. Dr. A B M. Siddique Hossian, Honorable Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB was also present there. The seminar started at 3 p.m.
In the beginning, our honorable dean, Professor Dr. Siddique Hossian, delivered some remarks. He discussed the curriculum and facilities of IT sectors such as data science, AI, robotics, blockchain, etc. Furthermore, he also offered online safety tips.
After that, Mr. Iqbal Bahar Zahid gave a valuable speech. He shared his IT foundation’s history and experience. Then, Mr. Sakif Ahmed took the podium and proudly announced that he’s an AIUB alumnus. Then he described his IT schooling and discussed ESPAB’s features and plans, such as fairs, internship opportunities, training sections, etc. Eventually, Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan spoke about safe internet use, cost and internet speed. Afterwards, Mr. Emdadul Haque took the platform and shared some experiences and history. He also talked about subsea cables, dial-up capacity, and the excellent service provided by them.
After that, the chief guest and honorable minister, Mr. Mustafa Jabbar gave his valuable speech. Initially, he provided some context and discussed Bijoy’s keyboard innovation. In particular, he discussed “Mr. Hanif Uddin”, the first Bangladeshi computer programmer. Additionally, he discussed about the Digital Bangladesh, the Bangabandhu Satellite and 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G. Mr. Jabbar also discussed about two-step verification and internet security in the conclusion of his speech.
At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Honorable VC, AIUB took the platform. She shared some of her valuable thoughts about a safe internet for the world. Afterwards, she handed over crests and presents to the guests and wrapped up the event by expressing appreciation to everyone involved in the program.
