The orientation ceremony of the AIUB Computer Club (ACC) for the newly selected members of Spring 2023–24 took place on February 19, 2024, in the Multipurpose Hall, Annex 7, at 4:30 PM. The event commenced with a warm welcome from the hosts, Souriya Akter and Ashikur Rahman Shakib, who extended their congratulations to the new members on their selection.
The proceedings of the ceremony started with a Quran recitation, followed by an informative presentation of ACC by the representatives of various clubs. Subsequently, the new members were invited to introduce themselves and showcase their talents on stage, creating an engaging session.
Following this, Niloy Roy, the President of AIUB Computer Club, introduced himself and elaborated on the club’s vision and upcoming events. He discussed the club’s founding, outlined its various activities and initiatives, including seminars, workshops, and past fests such as Jarvis, CS Fest, and Cyber Gaming Fest. Additionally, he provided details about Firefox@Aiub and Basis Student Forum, two wings of ACC, and introduced key figures within the club’s management, including mentors and department heads. Later on, other key panel members delivered their speeches and cordially greeted the new members. They also expressed their willingness to help all the members whenever required.
In the interim, Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik, Associate Professor and Special Assistant, Office of Student Affairs, AIUB, honoured the ceremony with his presence. He gave a talk about the goals of ACC and encouraged members to actively participate in different extracurricular activities. Furthermore, he provided some guidance on how to use social media appropriately without conducting any issues that would implicate the university or club. Lastly, Mr. Bhowmik emphasised how members can contribute to creating a lively and diverse community at AIUB.
The event was further enriched by performances from both new and existing ACC members, featuring singing and dancing, which added a lively touch to the proceedings.
Following the cultural program, Mr. Roy delivered a farewell speech, emphasising the sense of belonging within ACC. As a symbolic gesture of unity, at the very end, all attendees participated in a group photo session, capturing the spirit that defines the AIUB Computer Club.
