While the rest of the world returns to normal, AIUB Computer Club (ACC) strives to keep its members active by encouraging them to participate in a range of constructive activities. To attain the aim, the AIUB Computer Club successfully held the third edition of JARVIS as “JARVIS 3.0 – Intra ACC Carnival” on December 28, 2021. Keeping the COVID-19 situation in mind, as the previous year, this year’s event was also held entirely online.

The event was initiated with the opening ceremony of the event at 10 AM. A welcome address was delivered by Abrar Rafid, President, AIUB Computer Club, in which he greeted the visitors and participants in the beginning. Mashiour Rahman, Associate Dean in Charge, FST, AIUB, then formally launched the program by sharing his significant thoughts and suggestions with the attendees. Mr. Rahman discussed the ACC’s relationship with the Department of Computer Science, as well as how the two organizations collaborate to arrange events for the students’ benefit. He encouraged everyone to participate in such activities to get valuable experience for the future. Abhijit Bhowmik, Associate Professor of FST and Special Assistant to the OSA at AIUB, was present later on the occasion to give his voice to the proceedings. He said a few words to convey his thanks to the leaders and members of the AIUB Computer Club for arranging the event despite the pandemic. Lastly, Shama Islam, Special Assistant of OSA, AIUB and Sharfuddin Mahmood, Assistant Professor & Special Assistant [OSA], AIUB used some words to encourage participants and advised the organizers as well. Lots of other respected faculties like Kishor Morol, Lecturer, FST, AIUB, Kazi Sadia, Lecturer, FST, AIUB, Tanvir Ahmed, Lecturer, FST, AIUB and others were present in the ceremony as our valuable guests.
This year JARVIS 3.0 offered six segments for its members to compete. The segments were LOGO Designing Competition, Content Writing Competition, ICT Olympiad, Idea Prototyping and App Showcasing Contest, Photography Contest, and this edition’s newly introduced Video Editing Competition. All the competitions were divided into the senior and the junior categories. Among these, LOGO Design Competition, Content Writing Competition, Photography Contest, Video Editing Competition were submission-based as per this year’s Jarvis is an online edition. The Idea Prototyping and App Showcasing contests started at 12 PM and were streamed live through ACC Facebook Page following the opening ceremonies on December 28th. Participants presented their projects and apps through Google meet which were judged by our honorable faculties and alumni like Rashidul Hasan Nabil, Lecturer, FST, AIUB, Rifath Mahmud, Lecturer, FST, AIUB, Md Nazmul Hossain, Lecturer, FST, AIUB, Sazzad Hossain, Assistant Professor, FST, AIUB, Kazi Sadia, Lecturer, FST, AIUB, Kishor Morol, Lecturer, FST, AIUB. Other honorable faculties like Mohaimen-Bin-Noor, Assistant Professor, FST, AIUB and other alumni like Salman Rahman Desh, UX Engineer at SELISE Digital Platforms were also present in the competition which enhanced the event. The ICT Olympiad was scheduled at 6 PM the following evening. Then the event was put to an end with the “Post Event Adda” started at 8:30 pm where alumni and current members gather to share their thoughts and experiences regarding the event.
Despite being a members-only event, JARVIS 3.0 met a successful end with more than 200 participants in all six segments and support from the swag partners of the event Dohal and BOSSHOSTBD.
