AIUB Cyber Gaming Fest 2022

AIUB Computer Club (ACC) hosted the fourth “AIUB Cyber Gaming Fest 2022” from 1st to 4th December 2022 at American International University-Bangladesh. This event was sponsored by GIGABYTE, AORUS, CLUB G1 IT, THE DAILY JUGANTOR, THE BUSINESS STANDARD, EKATTOR TV, and ICE TODAY (AIUB). As one of the biggest Cyber Gaming Fests of this year, this year’s event featured FIFA 22, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, DOTA 2, Valorant, PES, and Mobile legends: bang bang.

On 1st December, the opening ceremony took place at the university premises and the anticipated guests arrived and unveiled the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, Mashiour Rahman, Associate Professor and Associate Dean (FST), Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Professor, and Director, MBA Program, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), AIUB, Manzur H Khan, Director of Office of Student Affairs (OSA), Prof. DR. Dip Nandi, Director, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Abhijit Bhowmik, Associate Professor, Special Assistant (OSA), Computer Science, Sharfuddin Mahmood, Assistant Professor & Special Assistant (OSA), Computer Science along with numerous special guests, attended the ceremony. After that, the guests and visitors gathered at Annex 3 and officially began the event by cutting a cake with participants from various schools, colleges, and institutions, as well as event volunteers. After the cutting of the cake, the guests posed for photographs with the gamers and volunteers. Guests also visited the areas where a variety of games were set up and prepared to be played and encouraged the gamers by wishing them luck.

Approximately one thousand individuals from around one hundred educational institutions in Bangladesh participated in various games.

In Valorant, 16 teams competed, each with 5 players. Exceeli Esports was the winner. TEAM UNDISPUTED, XCL Invictus and Vertex became the 1st, 2nd and 3rd runners-up accordingly.

In Dota 2, 8 teams participated. The team CmoK`SYA became the champion. While, Vintage Gamers, Grounded, TEAM SOLID were the runners-up teams.

In the school/college division of the FIFA 22 competition, Khandakar Tayassuk Imam Omio of Bir Sreshtho Nur Mohammad Public College was the champion, and Arghya Das of Dhaka City College was the runner-up. Sakib Hossain Zisan was the champion among AIUB students, and Shahriar Sazid was the runner-up.

In Need for Speed, from school and college, the champion was Fahbir Rabbi from Pen Field School, and the runner-up was Rafiul Karim, Trust College. In the intra university competition, the champion was Arman Hossain Sajal from BBA department, and the runner-up was Rezwan from the department of Computer Science.

PES e-Football 2023 featured 36 teams from various schools and colleges. In addition, each team had three players and one substitute. The winning team was HALA MADRID (AIUB) & the runner-up was Warriors of PBOC.

In Mobile Legends, there were more than 70 players, with 5 players on each team. The winning team was Wilos. The team Yamete Kudasai became the runners-up.

On 4th December, the closing ceremony was held to thank and award the participants. In the closing ceremony of the fest, the anticipated guests and winners arrived and affixed the closing event at 2:30 PM, which took place at the AIUB auditorium. The chief guest was Dr. Carman Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor of AIUB. Mashiour Rahman, Associate Professor and Associate Dean (FST), Manzur H Khan, Director, Office of Student Affairs (OSA), Prof. DR. Dip Nandi, Director (FST), Abhijit Bhowmik, Associate Professor & Special Assistant (OSA), Computer Science, Sharfuddin Mahmood, Assistant Professor & Special Assistant (OSA), Computer Science along with numerous special guests, attended the ceremony.

Khaza Md. Anas Khan, Country Manager, GIGABYTE was also present to award the winners and runners-up of the four-day long event. The representatives from media sponsors and magazine sponsor were also present at the closing ceremony. Everyone in the audience heard a heartfelt speech from Mr. Anas, who encouraged them to be confident in everything they do. A group photo with the guests, participants and AIUB Computer Club volunteers marked the event’s successful conclusion.
