AIUB Cyber Gaming Fest 2016

American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), organized “AIUB Cyber Gaming Fest 2016” on 27 and 28 July 2016. The festival was arranged by the AIUB Computer Club and powered by ASUS. The radio partner of the event was SHADHIN 92.4 fm and gaming partner was Global Brand. This two-day long event was held at the AIUB premises.

More than 500 participants from 256 schools and colleges registered online for the event. Among them around 250 participants of 200 schools and colleges are selected to participate in this event. Participants competed in FIFA’16, NFS Most Wanted and CS: GO categories.

The event was inaugurated by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Charles Carillo Villanueva. He was accompanied by the Director of Faculty of Science and Information Technology Mr. Mashiour Rahman, Director, PR, Legal & Int’l Affairs Md. Lutfar Rahman, Director of Student Affairs (OSA) Mr. Manzur H Khan, Asst. Director, Public Relations Abu Mia Akanda (Tuhin), Head of Computer Science (Undergraduate Program) Dr. Dip Nandi, Head of Computer Science (Postgraduate Program) Dr. Tabin Hasan,  Asst. Professor & Special Assistant (OSA) Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik, Asst. Professor & Special Assistant (OSA) Mr. Sharfuddin Mahmood, Asst. Professor & Advisor of AIUB Computer Club (ACC) Md. Saef Ullah Miah and the faculty members of the department and the participants of the school and colleges.

Honorable faculties from different departments, official personals, Guardians and Visitors visited the contest and appreciated initiative and arrangement. The event ended with prize giving ceremony. In the CS:GO category, team “PugGODZ” won the Championship award and team “Newbies” won the Runner-Up award; in NFS category, Najib Shahariar of BAF Shaheen College won Runner-Up award and Redowan Ahmed Bhuiyan of Bir Shreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College won the Championship award; in the FIFA category Shakil of Govt. Laboratory High School and College won the Runner-Up award and Zubeiri Aman Taha Dhaka City College won the Championship award. In his speech at the prize giving, Dr. Tabin Hasan, Head of Graduate Program, FSIT, focused on the importance of cyber games among youth for their holistic development. He also added how cyber games help to develop programming and logical sense in a student. Dr. Dip Nandi, Head of Undergraduate, FSIT, encouraged the appreciated the presence and ensured the participants that the authority will arrange this type of event in future on a regular basis. PROF. DR. Charles Carillo Villanueva, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB and Mr. Mashiour Rahman, Director, FSIT also addressed the audience at the prize giving ceremony. Asst. Saef Ullah Miah thanked the participants for their presence the in this exciting and colorful and also invited them for future such events at AIUB. Participants and Guardians expressed their overwhelming appreciation and gratitude to the AIUB Management for arranging this successful festival.
