On Thursday, 27 August 2026, AIUB Computer Club organised a workshop titled “Design Thinking 101: How Real Apps Are Built”. There were about 48 participants that took part in the workshop.
The session was conducted by Md. Imran Uddin, UX Designer, Customer Facing Platform, Grameenphone Ltd. Md. Javed Tariq, Director, Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA), Jannatul Nusrat, Officer, Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA), and Hossain Mohammad Salehin, Officer, Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA) were present in the workshop.
The workshop mainly focused on UI/UX career opportunities, customer psychology, business psychology, and the basic principles of designing effective applications. The speaker explained how a good user experience can influence customer satisfaction as well as business revenue. One of the important points discussed was the need to maintain a balance between user expectations and business requirements when designing a product.
The session was conducted in an interactive way, with Google Meet being used for slide sharing and presentation. Participant also had a 10 minute snacks break during the workshop. An interactive 8s activity was conducted, where participants had to complete the task within 10 minutes. This activity encouraged quick thinking and creativity and gave the participants a practical idea of how design thinking works under time limitations. A Q&A session was also held at the end, allowing participants to ask questions and discuss the topics covered during the workshop.
Overall, the workshop was an informative and engaging experience. It helped the participants understand that UI/UX design is not only about making an application look attractive, but also about understanding users, solving their problems, and meeting business goals. The practical activity and discussion made the learning experience more interesting and gave the participants a better idea of how design thinking is applied in real world applications.
At the end of the session, Md. Javed Tariq, Director, Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA) presented a token of appreciation to the speaker. The workshop concluded with a group photo involving the speaker and the participants.
