On Wednesday, 28th October 2025, AIUB Computer Club, in collaboration with Career Pro BD, organized a seminar titled “Cybersecurity and Social Awareness Event – 2025.” The event was presented by the ICT Division and powered by Amber IT. The session aimed to raise awareness about alarming issues related to cybersecurity and prevention regarding those in everyday life.
The session started as Ms. Laila Naznin, Adviser of Career Pro BD Ltd, delivered a welcome speech. In her speech, she told the audience about issues related to online risks and fraudulent behavior, and how to maintain safe internet use. After that, Mr. Monjur Mohammad Shahriar, Project Director, DEIED, spoke about increasing cases of cybercrime. He told the participants to give importance to protecting digital identity. He further mentioned that cybersecurity projects are being implemented by the ICT Division. He also added the possibilities of future joint projects with AIUB.
Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, American International University-Bangladesh, gave a speech about the importance of maintaining online safety and taking necessary measures. He thanked the guests and organizers for creating awareness about cybersecurity. Mr. Abhijit Bhowmick, Associate Professor and Special Assistant of Office of Students Affairs (OSA) and Sharifuddin Mahmood, Assistant Professor and Special Assistant of Office of Students Affair (OSA), delivered a speech about online risks and maintaining safe internet use in daily life.
Mr. Mashiour Rahman, Senior Associate Professor and Dean In-Charge, mentioned how easily young people can get scammed online. He encouraged students to stay informed and use the internet safely. A panel discussion followed, that was hosted by Mr. Mohammed Morad Hossain, CHRO & Board Secretary of Elite Paints and Vice President, Trainers Association of Bangladesh. Dr. K M Hasan Ripon, the President, Trainers Association of Bangladesh, talked about the influence of AI and the importance of AI literacy. Mr. Zia Uddin Ahmed, CEO, Competency Central; General Secretary, TAB, highlighted that cybersecurity is needed in every sector. Mr. Zia Uddin Mahmud, Director of Strategy & Innovation, TAB, emphasized online bullying, mental health, and the importance of using the internet safely. Mr. Del H Khan, Treasurer, TAB, discussed briefly about career opportunities in cybersecurity. The panel lastly engaged in an interactive Q&A session with students. Mr. G. M. Faruk, CISSP, CISA, and Cybersecurity Expert, talked about cyberbullying incidents and showed a short video regarding real cases of cyberattacks and ransomware threats. The workshop also arranged a quiz that was related to cybersecurity with ten questions, to get more interactive with the participants.
Ms. Afroja Khanom, Head, Learning and Development, IFIC Bank, hosted the second panel discussion. The guest speakers for the panel discussion included Md. Al-Islam, Sr. Officer, Amber IT Limited, Ariful Alam, CEO, Uni Global, Md.Hafizullah, Head of Operations, Synesis IT PLC, Md. Moshiur Rahman, Deputy Manager (HR), IFAD Group, Sharmin Hossain Sara, Assistant Manager (People & Culture), Synesis IT PLC. The panel briefly discussed Cybercrimes, AI, and opportunities in Higher Studies in Cybersecurity. Mr. Sadman Sadik, Influencer, Educator, and Youth Motivator, talked about fraud detection alerts in digital security. He added that giving a holistic effort to build a Bangladesh free from potential digital threats is important. A Final Prize-Giving Ceremony was held for the winners of the Cybersecurity Quiz, and tokens of honor were presented to the club mentor, guest speakers, panelists, and Career Pro BD Ltd. The event ended with a photo session and snack distribution. The Media Partners were News 24, Rupali Bangladesh, Radio Shadhin, and the Event Partners were UniGlobal and Ahmed Foods. The event successfully raised awareness about safety measures from cyber threats.
