The AIUB Computer Club organized an engaging online workshop titled “Mastering the Edit: Techniques for Creative Storytelling” on Thursday, 16 October 2025, from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, held via Google Meet. The session was conducted by Azmayeet Hammad, Former Assistant General Secretary of the Event Coverage and Post Production (ECPP) team, ACC.

The session began with Azmayeet Hammad initiating an interactive discussion by asking participants which software they use for video editing. He then introduced Filmora, showcasing its various features and functionalities. Moving forward, he provided an overview of storyboarding, explaining its importance in planning and structuring video projects effectively.

Throughout the workshop, Mr. Hammad shared valuable techniques for faster and more efficient video editing, introducing participants to several new tools and creative workflows. During this segment, Touhid Ahmed Antu, Assistant General Secretary of the Event Coverage and Post Production (ECPP) team, ACC, inquired about sourcing copyright-free music and encouraged members to ask questions. In response, Mr. Hammad demonstrated two key platforms, Epidemic Sound (paid) and YouTube, for finding suitable background music. He also mentioned MP3 Juice as a downloading option but cautioned members about its pirated nature, advising them to use such sources responsibly.

The discussion then shifted to reels, where Mr. Hammad explained that short-form videos often have fewer copyright restrictions on music usage. Shortly after, Abu Jafar Sisty, President of ACC, welcomed the Club Mentor, Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik, Special Assistant of  Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science at AIUB. Mr. Bhowmik shared inspiring remarks on the potential of video editing as a creative and professional skill, encouraging participants to continue learning and experimenting in this growing industry.

Mr. Hammad proceeded to recommend several professional YouTubers, including Gaku Lange, for members to follow and learn advanced editing techniques. During the Q&A session, participants asked insightful questions such as how to enhance visuals, graphics, and editing speed, to which Mr. Hammad provided practical advice based on his experience.

He also discussed the differences between platforms, mentioning that Facebook and Instagram are more accessible for beginner creators compared to YouTube. Later, he introduced the concept of video templates, explaining how they save time and improve consistency. He showcased platforms like 64STOCK and Envato for downloading high-quality templates.

During the interactive segment, Abrar Anan Raiyan, Former Assistant General Secretary of the Event Coverage and Post Production (ECPP) team, ACC, joined the session and engaged in a lighthearted exchange with Mr. Hammad, adding a touch of humor and keeping the atmosphere lively.

The workshop continued with a demonstration of Adobe After Effects tools, focusing on image synchronization, frame control, and audio editing, followed by a short tutorial on DaVinci Resolve for color grading and audio enhancement. Mr. Hammad recommended DaVinci Resolve as his preferred tool for achieving professional-quality color work.

He then shared examples of his previous video projects, including his first-ever work, encouraging participants to trust the learning process and remain patient as they develop their editing skills. Mr. Hammad also emphasized the importance of typography and font choice, noting that well-selected fonts significantly improve video engagement.

Before concluding, Mr. Hammad suggested the possibility of hosting a video editing contest exclusively for ACC members who attended the workshop. In response, President Abu Jafar Sisty proposed incorporating the contest video into the club’s upcoming event, Cyber Gaming Fest (CGF), and he sought Mr. Hammad’s guidance on video and reel preparation for the event. Mr. Hammad recommended a creative blend of videos and reels for better audience engagement.

The workshop concluded with final remarks from Mr. Azmayeet Hammad, expressing appreciation for the participants’ enthusiasm and encouraging them to continue honing their skills. The session ended on a positive and inspiring note, leaving attendees with enhanced knowledge of modern video editing tools and creative techniques, as well as renewed motivation to explore the world of digital content creation.
