On 31st July 2021, AIUB Computer Club (ACC) organized the orientation program virtually to greet the newly recruited members of the Summer 20-21 semester and declared the new executive committee of BASIS Students’ Forum AIUB Chapter and Firefox at AIUB using the online platform ‘Zoom’. The platform support was provided by Engineers Hub.
Abrar Rafid, President, ACC initiated the program at 7:30 PM by welcoming new members and everyone attending the session. He handed over the floor to the hosts of the program, Abdus Shakur, Assistant General Secretary – Events, ACC, and Samiha Hossain, General Member, ACC. Mr. Shakur welcomed everyone and moved on to introducing ACC, such as its mission, vision, founder members, activities, different events, and connected communities. Then Ms. Hossain gave a short preface about AIUB including its management, Office of Student Affairs (OSA), and CS Department. Later, she enlisted the executive body members of ACC and the executive body members introduced themselves and their sectors one by one. After that, Abdur Rahman Emon, General Secretary, ACC took the floor to share about the environment and enjoyment of orientation programs that used to be held on campus.
In the meantime, Mr. Rafid mentioned announcing the executive panel effective from Summer ’21 of both the wings of ACC, BASIS Students’ Forum AIUB Chapter, and Firefox at AIUB. He requested Abhijit Bhowmik, Associate Professor and Special Assistant of OSA, AIUB to declare the new committees consecutively. Mr. Bhowmik published the committee and said a few words about the wings. After that, he addressed the club activities to the new members. During the session, Md. Hasibul Huq, Former President, ACC, S.M. Raihan Gafur, Former President, ACC, Faad Shahrukh Siddique, Former President, ACC, Samiul Haque, Former Assistant General Secretary, ACC, Pritam Saha Keerthi, Former Vice President, ACC, Wasif Zaman, Former Assistant General Secretary – Research and Development, ACC, and a lot of alumni joined and interacted with Mr. Bhowmik. Later, Mr. Huq informed the young members about his experience and the privileges of joining ACC. He greeted the new members and bestowed felicitation to the new committee members. Then, Mr. Haque talked about his experiences gained from the club as well. Mr. Rafid introduced Mahmudul Hasan, Former Club Lead, Firefix at AIUB, and Mr. Gafur, Former Convener, BASIS Students’ Forum AIUB Chapter to the new committee members. Both of them provided a brief of their clubs. Then the new members were asked to talk about their queries and feeling to join ACC. Mr. Gafur answered a few queries and thanked the previous committees for performing decent club activities. The program was celebrated and graced with a wonderful ambiance by activities of the club members and alumni such as singing songs, telling stories also reciting poems. Eventually, Mr. Rafid welcomed new members, congratulated new committee members, and concluded the procedure by 10:30 PM.
The session had the presence of about 125 participants that included executives, former executives, alumni, faculty, and general members, and the session lengthened further with songs, gossip, and fun.
